Midgley Volunteers

The shop is run by volunteers of all ages

They enjoy meeting people within the village and spending their time doing something worthwhile.

It's safe to say that none of them have run or even worked in shops in their pasts, but with the simple training all are very competent behind the counter!

The typical shift is about 1 – 2 hours. Some of us work regular hours and some do what we can when we can.

Volunteers – In the Shop and Behind the Scenes

The volunteers either have a regular weekly slot on the rota, or they fill in times which are vacant due to holidays etc.

There are 35 volunteers and of these six form a management group which organises the rotas, buying, administration and accounts.

We also have a small group of volunteers who do not serve in the shop, but do other vital work including ordering, stock lists and newspapers.

Why Not Join the Volunteers?

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our volunteer team. It is an excellent way to get to know people and take part in the life of the community.

Whether you have just the odd hour to spare or can make a more regular commitment, you will be very welcome. If you would like to know more, please ring Jane Clyde on 01422 883817.
